Barceloneta is a neighbourhood in the city of Barcelona that overlooks the beach. Tourists, like myself on chilly day in April, spend time walking the entire stretch of the boardwalk that is lined with restaurants, surf shops, bike rentals, bars, etc.
In fact, you’ll find people walking, running, biking, skateboarding all along because the stretch is so long and beautiful – kind of perfect for almost any land activity that gets your heart racing, in a good way.
You’ll also find on occasion a homeless man trying to make a living off his sand art on the beach. When I got to Barceloneta, the guy had just finished building Homer Simpson lying flat on his back on the beach.
My father, who I was with at the time, had already overlooked this work of art and walked quite a distance away from me. As much as I would have loved to chat up this guy, all I could do was take a quick snap of Homer before my father realised I wasn’t scuttling right behind him.
Happy Sunday my lovely readers!
